FWAPC RECEPTION FOR
Rear Admiral Townsend G. "Tim" Alexander

In the second of a planned ongoing series, the FWAPC held a reception for Rear Admiral T.G. “Tim” Alexander, Commander of Navy Region Southeast, at the Colonial Country Club the evening of April 13, 2010.

FWAPC members turned out in sizeable numbers for the evening’s event. It was a very relaxed atmosphere as the Admiral told the group that he placed a very high priority on his commander’s relationship with local civilian support groups at each of the bases under his command. He spoke very highly of the job that “Skipper”, CAPT T. D. Smyers, has done at NAS/JRB. The Admiral was very complimentary regarding all he has learned about the FWAPCouncil and Foundation, and just how highly he valued our role in the ongoing support of the base and the families of these military personnel.

It’s clear that military budgets will be under great pressure now and in coming years, and the Council can play a key role in making a case for the needs of NAS/JRB as our influential members make trips to D.C. to meet with senior military and civilian decision making leadership.

There will be more of these informal receptions honoring special guests, such as flag officers of the various branches, who will be sharing their views and the needs of the military with our members.
